On 28 September, the Jazz in Belgium website is getting a makeover. Available in three languages, from now on collaborative and participative, the website will be accessible to all without condition. Launched 25 years ago and dedicated to the jazz community in Belgium, this tool for the promotion and dissemination of Belgian jazz has been redesigned in its entirety to meet the needs of both professionals and the general public. Developed by the association Les Lundis d’Hortense, the new Jazz in Belgium website aims to become the leading showcase for the jazz community in Belgium.
The new Jazz in Belgium website makes it easy to get information across all areas of jazz, from mainstream to modern, post-bop to free, swing to gypsy, crossover to Nu … Among the content directly created and published by the various actors of the jazz scene in Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia, we can highlight: a calendar open to all jazz activities (concerts, jam sessions, festivals, conferences, masterclasses, etc.), a directory of geolocated jazz venues, updated artist pages, discographic releases, a professional directory and training venues.
The website makes it possible for the general jazz-loving public to dive into the history of Belgian jazz as well as discover new artists daily. By simply logging in, the website also allows you to follow your favourite content: artists, venues, festivals, etc. That way you can enjoy personalized browsing and not miss out on anything (anymore) concerning the current jazz scene.
For jazz professionals – artists, concert halls, jazz clubs, managers/bookers, labels, institutions, studios and journalists – the website is a dynamic and user-friendly tool for promotion and communication. In a few clicks, each member of the Jazz in Belgium community can change and update his or her photo, bio, media links and concert dates in Belgium.
Through this initiative, conceived as an invitation to join the great family of jazz in Belgium, the non-profit association Les Lundis d’Hortense aims to offer everyone a unique, dynamic and accessible dissemination and information platform as well as a precious hub for exchanges between the country’s different communities.
