De muzikant uit de Franse Charentestreek ontvouwt met zijn tenor- of baritonsax het \u201ccoole\u201d sonore weefsel met een virtuositeit die hij te danken heeft aan zijn klassieke opleiding, en met de swing die hem als gegoten zit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En dat is nog een understatement: twee jaar lang heeft hij deel uitgemaakt van The Sounds Swing Machine die de Brusselse club elke maand liet meedeinen op zijn muzikale golven \u2026 Deze keer werpt Mathieu Najean zich op als leader van een nieuw \u201cBrussels\u201d kwartet, waarvan hij de drummer een tiental jaar geleden aan het Conservatorium heeft leren kennen. Samen gaven ze algauw blijk van een onwankelbare voorliefde voor de goed uitgewerkte melodie en de betoverende harmonie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nadat Mathieu Najean zich had verdiept in de discrete schoonheid van The Great American Songbook, verruimde hij zijn stilistische horizon en ging hij zich toeleggen op het typische repertoire van de West Coast, op de wiegende bossanova, en op het thema van <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Les Vacances de Monsieur Hulot<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> van Jacques Tati.
