Sometimes, all you need is a few, well-balanced notes to find yourself far, very very far. Trio Misturado lead the audience on the shores of the South Pacific, in 19th Century Rio where choro came to life. A mix (“mistura”) of European and African dances, choro blends syncopated rhythms and improvisation, creating a one-way road with jazz.
Choro, “lament” in Portuguese, acts like an antidote. This is the meeting point for Trio Misturado, which also draws on a number of Brazilian musical genres such as baião, frevo and samba, rhythms from both the south and the northeast of the country. With their aerial flutes, a warm seven-string guitar and magical percussion instruments such as cajón and udu, this purely acoustic trio has widened its spectrum to Latin music and even chamber music accents.
How well are these popular rhythms played, with skill and nuance, and how poetic they turn! Bem-vindo in the enchanting Trio Misturado universe!
