“RUBY“ is the project that, right now, best embodies the personality of guitarist Lorenzo Di Maio. Always on the lookout for new getaways, as long as they are lyrical, with this bass-less quartet the Saint-Ghislain native places the synthesizer center stage. Moog or Prophet, the venerable machine takes care of the bass line while adding a strong presence and sound palette, setting up climates on which the guitar, as well as the piano, can take off. A piano that can also be a Fender Rhodes. Yes, with “RUBY“, electricity’s in the air!
With his fine sense of melody and composing, Lorenzo Di Maio works sound like a sculptor would with clay, molding it in a seductive or quizzical way.
Through its open “fusion” style, “RUBY“ blends the power of rock to the freedom of jazz, making this music a particularly powerful live. No way you can miss “Ruby” when they’re around.
