For many years, Alex Beaurain has explored the acoustic guitar in an original way, using hybrid tunings and thus approaching composition in a very different way. For this new trio, he wrote specifically for cello and percussion, drawing on sonic research from his various explorations. This work has been underway for a long time, taking different forms over the years: first as a trio with the TAB from 2011 to 2017, then solo from 2021 to 2023, and now again as a trio, but with a different orchestration. The search for precise spectra, a clear understanding of the ensemble, a more legible acoustic placement, and the desire for a strong emphasis on the compositions form the core idea behind this orchestration. The compositions as a whole are intended to be profoundly free within a highly structured musical framework. This leads us to an extremely unique result and a musical journey, which falls within a current of European chamber jazz.
