This new project presents Daniel Stokart’s compositions, in which he plays soprano saxophone, but also world music instruments like hulusi and duclar.
The saxophonist’s approach is inspired by modern European jazz (ECM), classical music, free jazz, traditional jazz, and repetitive music. With influences from modal, blues, and world music, this project emphasizes improvisations and lyrical themes, playing on the contrasts between ethereal atmospheres and sometimes unbridled improvisations. It is music full of nuances, sometimes very detailed, sometimes very stripped down, a clever mix between writing and improvisation…
