The Lundis d’Hortense season opening party is an energetic celebration of jazz, made for friends, by friends. The evening will start with a celebratory concert by Antwerp-based band Unfinished Business, followed by a short vocal workshop by Sarah Klenes, Pauline Leblond and Alexandre Wajnberg. No need to be a professional musician: open your ears, dare use your voice and let yourself get carried away by some of the genre’s most emblematic standards. The evening will finish with a jam session open to all. Come listen, sing, play and party along!
Unfinished Business, five passionate musicians who met in the hallways of the Antwerp Conservatory, are making a remarkable difference in the sonic landscape in and around the city. Their dynamic repertoire cannot be categorized under one label. Rooted in jazz and influenced by rock, funk, and fusion, with a strong anchor in hard bop, they create a sound where the echoes of the classics blend with the freshness of their future music; felt in one earful: Their Business is Unfinished!
The schematically structured grids of their compositions provide room for improvisation, allowing the mix of genres and stylistic influences to remain fresh, crisp, and vibrant. By continually breathing new life into the music, this collective has cultivated a Hive Mind.
