Mâäk, formerly Mâäk Spirit, is a band/collective that was created in 1998 by Laurent Blondiau. Many projects have been carried out by this collective, both nationally and internationally, in small and large groups (MikMâäk). The collective has also worked a lot with traditional African artists around trance music: Maalem Abdelmati (Gnawa-Morocco music), Sekouba Traore (Bambara-Mali hunters), The Anagoko family (Voodoo-Benin),… The quintet with its very original instrumentation (4 blowers-1 drummer) offers a repertoire inspired by these different African adventures. The search for freedom is omnipresent despite precise and contemporary compositions. A dense and generous music with contagious energy !
